Thank You for Your Incredible Support in 2024!

On behalf of the Battlefords District Food & Resource Centre (BDFRC), also known as the Empty Stocking Fund (ESF), we extend our deepest gratitude for your unwavering support this past year. As a charity with no core funding, your generosity makes all the difference in helping us serve the most vulnerable in the Battlefords and surrounding areas.

Thanks to you,we’ve been able to touch the lives of thousands each month through our food programs. In 2024, over 2,100individuals per month—half of whom were children—received healthy, well-rounded food hampers. Each hamper included essentials such as dairy, protein, fresh produce, and a non-food item like cleaner or hygiene products, ensuring dignity and care for every recipient.

This holiday season, through the Empty Stocking Fund, we distributed 380 Christmas Hampers in a single day,bringing the spirit of the season to nearly 1,200 individuals. More than half of those registered were children, each of whom also received a thoughtful gift. Your kindness brought warmth and joy to so many families.

Our Food for Kids program delivered 130–140 weekly food bags during the school year, and in the summer, in partnership with Food Banks Canada, we distributed 110 “After the Bell” bags with fresh fruit to children for eight weeks. These programs ensured that no child went hungry, even during school breaks.

Through the Share the Warmth/Coats for Kids program,we provided hundreds of winter coats, toques, mittens, and scarves to those in need, ensuring they stayed warm and safe during the colder months.

Additionally,during tax season, we held free income tax clinics, completing over 500 tax returns for low-income individuals and families—another vital service made possible through your support.

As an essential service in our community, the impact of your generosity cannot be overstated. Your contributions allowed us to remain open, steadfast in our mission to fight food insecurity and provide hope for families in the Battlefords and surrounding areas.
