Thank you North Battleford Fire Department!

The Battlefords District Food & Resource Centre extends our heartfelt thanks to the North Battleford Fire Department for their incredible generosity in donating their time, resources, and water to support our Lasagna Garden at 1742 101st St. This unique garden, built above ground, is nurtured with layers of compostable materials like newspaper, cardboard, leaves, and grass clippings, which decompose over time to create rich, nutrient-dense soil.

This year, we've planted a variety of crops, including potatoes, cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes, onions, carrots, and even some flowers. With the recent dry spell, we faced challenges in keeping the garden hydrated, but thanks to the Fire Department's dedication, our garden continues to thrive. Their willingness to volunteer their time and energy ensures that the produce grown will help nourish families facing food insecurity in our community. We are deeply grateful for their support.
